As a token of my love

I walked for miles with heart askew
Desperate to find a gift worthy of you
And yes I failed, that much is true
Defeated by the gesture I’d hoped to do
But then I wrote
This ode to you
These treasures I brought
For I’m owed to you
Please file them under
Gifts from my lover

I walked for miles with heart on edge
Desperate to write this solemn pledge
Until I sketched this seed I’d rendered
Unabashedly sketched with heart quite tendered
An ode to you
For I’m owed to you
An ode to you
For my oath is due
Please file it under
Gifts from my lover

I took the time to think it through
And all these gifts I bring to you
Despite their less than perfect condition
They’re all I could offer in my position

So I offer you my heart as a token of my love
It’s not the best but it’s all that I have
And as a token of my love I offer you my lungs
They’re not always fast but they will last
And with my lungs I give you my liver
It’s not the greatest but it will deliver
And with my liver I give you my kidneys
For nights when you feel you’ve had too many whiskeys
In addition to my kidneys I give you my pancreas
For times when you need it, it won’t be extraneous
And last of all I give you my stomach
It may sometimes falter but it’s in working order

For your possession
I bring you these donations
They may not be much
But they are tokens of my love
My all to you
For I’m owed to you
My all to you
For my oath is due
Please file them under
Gifts from my lover

~With love x
